You can search for, browse, and borrow e-books and digital audiobooks right from our catalogue.
If you have a mobile device, like a tablet or a smartphone, using the Libby App is the easiest way to enjoy e-books and digital audiobooks from HCPL. Download the Libby App and use your library card number and PIN for instant access to tens of thousands of library books that can be read or listened to from your device.
Users of the legacy OverDrive app will need to upgrade to Libby by May 1, 2023. There are resources available to you to aid in this transition:
You can also browse and borrow e-books and digital audiobooks directly from the Ontario Library Service Download Centre. Use this if you want to read in your browser on a computer, or to transfer books to your e-reader. For more on accessing your e-books on an e-reader, consult the OverDrive Help topic on their website. Please note that Canadian public library collections are not supported by Kindle e-readers.
To start, you can consult the OverDrive Help website where you can find help topics on accessing e-books on your specific device. You can also contact or drop in to any HCPL branch where a staff member can help you.
