The Friends of the Haliburton County Public Library (FOHCPL) is a support group and advocates for all the library branches in our communities.  It raises funds to assist with developing library facilities, programs, and services.

The vision of the Friends is:

Sustainable support for a dynamic community library that inspires and engages everyone.

The Friends of the Library formed in 2003.  This spring, on April 7th, 2023, the Friends celebrate their 20th anniversary!  This is an incredible milestone for these active library volunteers who have made such a contribution and a difference to Haliburton County Public Library (HCPL) over the past two decades.

Since their founding, the Friends have raised tens of thousands of dollars from gala events, seasonal book sales, and by operating the Book Nook at Minden branch – as well as maintaining book sale shelves and carts in each of our branches.

They have consistently supported HCPL with funds for furnishing, bookshelves, unique book collections, tech devices and learning kits for all ages, special computers for our youngest patrons to support learning, and much, much more.

Congratulations to our Friends of the Library directors and members!  And sincere thanks for all they do to support our local libraries across Haliburton County.

Please continue to watch this space as we work with the Friends’ executive board to develop this page
