Haliburton County Public Library Appoints Andrea Brown as New CEO/Chief Librarian

Haliburton County Public Library (HCPL) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Andrea Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer and Chief Librarian. Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role, having previously served as Deputy CEO/Public Services Manager at HCPL.

Originally from Stoney Creek, Ontario, Andrea graduated from Trent University and earned her Master of Library & Information Studies (MLIS) at the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining HCPL, Andrea honed her skills and expertise at the Vancouver Public Library (VPL), where she held various roles including Branch Head at several VPL locations. Notably, during her tenure as VPL’s Early Years Assistant Manager, Andrea coordinated the creation of a provincially funded $50,000+ Reading Tree early literacy book project, which received accolades including a City of Vancouver Staff Innovation Award.

With 18 years of experience in public libraries, including 10 years in supervisory roles, Andrea brings a deep understanding of library operations and a passion for public service. She embraces all that Haliburton County has to offer and looks forward to serving her community with enthusiasm.
