Ontario Parks has partnered with Ontario's public libraries to loan day use passes to patrons. You can check out an Ontario Parks day pass for a one-week loan period at any of our HCPL branches. You can also place a hold on a day use pass through our catalogue.
The motivation behind this program is to help Ontarians spend more time in nature. A wide body of research supports the idea that time spent in nature has significant benefits for our mental and physical health. Learn more about Healthy Parks Healthy People.

HCPL loans out Ontario Parks passes for one week, with the option to renew once. You can place a hold on a pass through our catalogue.
Your borrowed pass is valid for all Ontario Parks, but park capacity limits do apply. To ensure that you can get into an Ontario provincial park, plan ahead and check if you need an advanced daily vehicle permit. Find out more on the Ontario Parks blog.
Ontario Parks are now offering advanced daily vehicle permits for 33 of the busiest provincial parks. Advanced daily vehicle permits ensure that your spot can be reserved for a specific day and that you won't be turned away because of capacity limits. To reserve your advanced daily vehicle permit up to 5 days in advance, visit the Ontario Parks Reservation Service and use the serial number on the back of the permit you borrow from HCPL to reserve an advanced daily vehicle permit at no charge.
Please report this to HCPL as soon as possible. There is a $50 charge for lost passes. We report lost or unreturned passes to Ontario Parks so they can take that pass out of circulation. Please treat your pass with care so it can be enjoyed by other patrons.
